But my fears were misplaced. I think I’m scared of the length. The final section of the book follows Ifemelu's return and her reunion with Obinze who is, by now, married to someone else. Taking place in Nigeria, the United States, and England, Americanah can be viewed by many as a novel that is one of the premier looks on race over the last five years. I loved all the talk about privilege, and how well she explains it.

Stronger editing would have done wonders for this book. Kind of a shame, because it really sounds like a great set up. Why don't you go back to Europe?
